God made only water, but man made wine
Victor Hugo, 1802-1885, French Writer

The Kyr Yianni company was founded in 1997 by Yiannis Boutaris. The winery continues a long family tradition by focusing on the production of special high-quality wines that combine originality, character, and form an attractive proposition for the modern consumer. Today, the Kyr Yianni team, under the guidance of Stellios Boutaris, son of Yiannis Boutaris, prepares with vision the next phase of the evolution of the estate, building on the dynamic core pillars of the Kyr Yianni philosophy of: innovation, respect for tradition and specialized knowledge about wine from the vineyard to the final consumer.

The Kyr Yianni vineyards and winery in Amyntaio are situated in the vineyard village of Agios Panteleimon on the shores of Lake Vegoritida, which is defined by the mountains of Kaimaktsalan and Vitsi, at an altitude of 700m and an area of 1,650 acres. The purpose of the winery is the enhancement of a degraded area, which came to light after a systematic search by the founder, Yiannis Boutaris. Today Amyntaio, a traditional but neglected grape-producing area, has evolved into one of the most promising wine regions of Greece. The area is characterized by a special microclimate suitable for high-end wines, due to the high altitude and the four lakes surrounding the growing area. International white grape varieties such as Chardonnay and Gewurztraminer grow here, along with native varieties such as Roditis.

For the visitors, there is the opportunity for guided tours in the areas of production, where they can be informed about wine processing and production. In addition, in the basement of the winery there is a wine tasting space, with parallel presentations of the products, as well as a wine cellar where visitors can find the company’s wines.
